Reconstruction of palaeo-fluid compositions in the Hambach sediments


Based on the low-temperature experiments of the previous work, it will be possible to reconstruct at least in parts the fluid composition of the Tertiary Hambach sediments, where siderite has grown. The exchangeable cations of the clay minerals are determined and their relative amounts recalculated into fluid compositions, with which they were probably in contact. This will give insight into the physicochemical milieu, where very different kinds of siderite have grown (sphaerosiderites versus massive siderites),
