Math Preparatory Class
Information
We recommend all students beginning in the winter semester to participate in the math preparatory class. This class is designed to refresh the important material handled in upper level math classes from school as well as offering a way to ease into every day life at the university.
Fundamentals of Mathematics (Prof. Dr. R. Stens)
Fractions, exponents, binomial formulas, quadratic equations, theory of sets, logic, mathematic proofs, real and complex numbers, and numerical methods.
Analysis (Priv.-Doz.
Dr. Y. Guo)
Inequalities, absolute values, element functions, sequences, consistent, differential equations, integrals.
Linear Algebra (Dr. M. Neunhöffer)
Linear equations, analytical geometries, scalar products, vectors, linear independent.
Probability calculations and Statistics (Dr. W. Herff)
Describing and representing data, regression calculations, probabilities, combinatorics, parameter estimations.
Tip: The course certificate, which is handed out on the first day, gives a discount on the public transportation system.
